America’s Small Business Development Center Network Another FREE RESOURCE - Hosted by leading universities, colleges and state economic development agencies and funded in part through a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, approximately 1,000 service centers are available to provide no-cost consulting and low-cost training. The information received at the Tennessee center in my city was excellent and very helpful, especially in marketing, which included access to an amazing database of businesses and individuals. Highly recommeneded.

Congressional District Programs. To obtain non-profit status at a reasonable cost and within a reasonable timeframe, make yours a charitable project that is “A Foundation at Congressional District Programs.” This approach has been used by Horse Sense for Teens at Medicine Horse Ranch in Tomales, CA, and by Dr. Galen Cole, a therapist in Snellville, GA, for his scholarship fund for clients. Always check with your lawyer and accountant before making any financial decisions.

The Effectiveness of Equine Assisted Group Counseling with At-risk Children and Adolescents , By Kay Sudekum Trotter, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, RPT, University of North Texas. Compared and contrasted experiences of youngsters in a 12-week equine assisted therapy program with those doing traditional counseling. KENTUCKY HORSE PARK MUSTANG TROOP PROGRAM The Kentucky Horse Park Mustang Troop program teams inner-city youth, 10-years-old and older, with adopted formerly-wild mustangs, and teaches them how to interact with horses, care for their needs and learn to ride. This program is uniquely administered by three different government agencies at the federal, state and local levels: the US Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Kentucky Horse Park, and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government’s (LFUCG) Division of Police, Police Alliance League (PAL).
